Alex's qualifications, experience, and skills make him a valuable asset in the construction industry. His accreditations as a Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS), registered with the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) and the prestigious Gold Seal Certification as an Estimator (GSC), issued by the Canadian Construction Association (CCA), demonstrate his commitment to maintaining the highest professional standards. In addition Alex has completed an MSc (distinction) in Construction Commercial Management; and is also qualified as a Chartered Surveyor Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
Alex's extensive domestic experience in Canada since 2012, combined with nearly fifteen years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the UK construction industry, has given him a broad and diverse range of skills and knowledge. He has worked on a wide range of projects, including hospital, school, airport, and commercial building constructions, listed buildings, multi-million-dollar single family residences, high volume government refurbishment projects, rail, linear (oil, gas and hydro pipelines) remedial work, and OSA defence projects. This breadth of experience means that he is well-equipped to handle any construction project that comes his way.
As a UK trained surveyor and commercial manager, Alex has a strong background in contractual and risk analysis, conceptual through final accounting cost planning and reporting, value engineering, contractual and legal negotiation, and project management. This means that he understands the importance of managing budgets and timelines while ensuring that projects are completed to the highest possible standards.
As an excellent trouble-shooter, Alex is often able to utilize his understanding of alternate technologically advanced building methods means that he is always looking for unique solutions to clients' problems that can often be both effective and profitable. He also has strengths in forensic accounting and audit, legal dispute resolution, and using cutting-edge technology, including electronic measurement software, to ensure that the firm remains current and competitive at all times.

Gordon McKercher CET, QUANTITY SURVEYOR

Gordon came to the Construction Industry after a 15+ year career in Oil and Gas and Mining Exploration where he gained a thorough understanding of Drilling Operations, dispute resolution and team integration.
Gordon worked in the NWT and the Yukon from the mid-nineties until 2007. He co-authored the QSSi cold-weather SWPP (Safe Working Practices Policy) manual.
He came to QSSi after working for Cima+, a national engineering firm, where he was a Junior Technologist within the Infrastructure Group.
Gordon graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology’s Civil Engineering Diploma Program in 2017, where he excelled in the Estimating and Regulations courses in the program. His understanding of operational procedures as well as a collaborative and systematic approach to what he does.
While at SAIT, Gordon’s Capstone Project earned one of the top grades in his year via his report and presentation.Gordon has a good attention to detail and is very thorough in all his assignments. He is resourceful and realistic in his approach to estimating, and adds value no matter the type or size of project.

Paul Brietzke’s 30 years of experience in the field of Construction has been varied, comprising experience in the private and commercial construction sector. Paul started out in construction as a carpenter and climbed the ranks to Senior Project Management.
He is extremely enthusiastic towards always remaining current in his field and is actively involved with developing his qualifications further. He was awarded a Diploma in Applied Project Management from Simon Fraser University and is currently progressing his Gold Seal Certification. He is COR certified as an Internal Auditor and has obtained several other certifications in his field.
Paul has a great attention to detail and is very thorough in all his assignments. He is realistic in his estimating approach and adds value to all QSSi projects.
With a dedication to building long-lasting relationships, Paul’s ethos is the same as QSSi, when it comes to ensuring that all tasks are performed above and beyond what is required.

Stephen’s 35+ years estimating experience gives him exceptional strength and innovation in value engineering, costing, budgeting, sourcing materials, and identifying effective and efficient methods of construction.
Having been UK-trained as a Professional Quantity Surveyor, his extensive experience on a wide variety of project types ranging up to $1B has given him the ability to add value to all projects to which he is assigned.
Stephen has a great attention to detail and is very thorough in all his assignments. He is highly capable of providing construction advice, project solutions and project budgets from conception to completion. Stephen is resourceful and realistic in his approach to estimating and his team management experience brings valuable core strengths to the project team. Mike has joined the QSSi team with 5+ years of experience within the construction industry as a quantity surveyor.
Mike has a master's degree in quantity surveying from the University of Portsmouth. He is currently working toward several accreditations, which include Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS), registered with the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) and the prestigious Gold Seal Certification as an Estimator (GSC), issued by the Canadian Construction Association (CCA). Mike is also an associate of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
His past career in London, the UK, for an award-winning firm has helped him obtain a great understanding and expertise of advanced building technologies and dispute resolution. He has experience working in the Higher Education, Healthcare, Residential, and Commercial Real Estate industry. In addition, he has proven strong business development and professional skill in Tender Preparation, Estimating, Value Engineering, Cost Control and Management, Procurement, and Feasibility Studies.
During Mike's career in the UK, he has developed significant experience in JCT contracts and procurement processes with a specialism in cost planning. With this experience and skill, he has transitioned to the Canadian Construction Industry.
His background in Motorsport Engineering has allowed him to adopt a fantastic interpretation of processes and precision within his projects. As a result, Mike has an extraordinary work ethic and enjoys the unique challenges that the construction industry provides.

Eddy is a driven and accomplished professional who has transitioned into the construction industry after three years of experience as a sales manager for a packaging and machinery company. With a global perspective gained from working in various countries, including Ukraine and Denmark, Eddy brings a unique perspective to working with international clients and projects.
Eddy holds a Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying from Liverpool John Moores University, where he wrote his dissertation on the effects of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in education and across the project lifecycle. After university, he gained experience working for a successful packaging and machine manufacturer on projects across Europe.
Eddy's previous role in a high-pressure sales environment has equipped him well for the demands of the construction industry, where he can apply his education and experience in pursuing his career in quantity surveying.
His interest in the design and building process of a project was first sparked when he worked on a construction site as a teenager, and he has since developed a keen interest in all aspects of quantity surveying, from legal disputes to working on digital built assets.
Overall, Eddy is a dedicated and accomplished professional with a good foundation of knowledge in quantity surveying, and a passion for architecture, engineering, and the construction industry.

Stephanie initially trained as a Paralegal and was headhunted into the Construction Industry via the insurance route. She excelled in the management and coordination of trades, and insurance partnerships, and completed a number of industry related certification courses over the years.
Stephanie has a great attention to detail and is very thorough in all her assignments. She is highly capable of providing project solutions from conception to completion. Stephanie is resourceful and realistic in her negotiation style and general approach to construction matters; and her team management experience brings valuable core strengths to the project team. Mark’s 30+ years of experience make him a construction project and management professional. He has a keen eye for commercial business performance and finances and a diverse construction and engineering background to draw upon. Innovative in contract strategy, value engineering, costing, budgeting, and identifying effective and efficient methods of construction.
Having been UK-trained as a Professional Mechanical Engineer, and in Business Administration his extensive experience on a wide variety of project types ranging up to $0.9B has given him the ability to add value to all projects to which he is assigned. This has led him to win awards for projects from the UK Association of Consulting Engineers.
As well as his ability to look at the “big picture”, Mark has a great attention to detail and is very thorough in all his assignments. He is highly capable of providing construction advice, project solutions from conception to completion. Mark is collaborative in his leadership and team contribution styles which brings valuable cohesion to project teams, and makes him a team player with a strong focus on client satisfaction.
Mark has a wide range of industry contacts, which he leverages to benefit his clients’ projects. Mark is responsible for contract strategy, estimating, including take-offs, pricing, alternative cost analysis (including value engineering), and tendering. Brad began his career working hands on in the building construction industry as an electrical apprentice. While he was undergoing his electrical engineering studies at the University of Alberta, Brad spent his time away from the classroom developing a better understanding of the technical requirements related to the electrical trade and coordinating disciplines. This experience has contributed to his heightened attention to detail of the design and construction processes as a project engineer.
Since then Brad has become a successful project leader in a variety of fields. He has lead complex projects to fruition in the residential, commercial, mixed-use, industrial, hospitality, infrastructure and health care fields. His understanding and proficiency enables him to effectively incorporate highly technical design solutions with overall building systems.
Brad is involved in all project phases from concept design, through detailed drawing production and eventually to project completion. His ability to maintain a direct connection with the project and project team members ensures that the design intent of each project is maintained effectively throughout the design and construction phases.

Jon brings a wealth of business experience to the table, including setting out feasibility studies, developing company strategies, and forming lasting community bonds. He has a strong background in hotel management, where he managed maintenance budgets and implemented new technology to improve operations. This experience has given him a keen eye for identifying building deficiencies of any kind.
As our point-man in California, Jon is focused on delivering the highest quality reserve fund studies available in the industry. He is skilled in data analysis, client and customer relationship management, and coaching companies and individuals on team building and company structure to increase profits.
Jon has over 20 years of experience in construction management, presenting, and public speaking, making him adept at delivering complex information to a variety of audiences. He is approachable and easygoing, making him comfortable when rolling out presentations or explaining the details of QSSi's product lines to boards or tenants.
Throughout his career, Jon has developed a keen eye for identifying building deficiencies of any kind, making him uniquely qualified to perform detailed inspections for reserve fund studies.

As the Communications Officer for QSSi, Aihua is responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies to support the company's business objectives in the Chinese communities we work with hand-in-hand.
Aihua's qualifications include a Master's degree in Education and a Higher Certification in Translation, which have provided her with a strong foundation in language and communication. She is fluent in both Mandarin and English, which has been a tremendous asset to QSSi as they expand their operations.
Throughout her career, Aihua has demonstrated a keen understanding of the importance of effective communication in achieving business goals. She is skilled at creating and implementing strategies that effectively reach target audiences, build brand awareness, and drive engagement. Her ability to communicate effectively across different cultures and languages has been critical to QSSi's success as they navigate the global marketplace.
